Srinagar, Dec 29: In order to introduce e-governance and bring transparency, Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir has switched over to the new software – VAHAN Version 4.0 – which will allow people to submit token tax, registration and transfer of vehicles online.
The RTO Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Rather, told Excelsior that from November-December 2016 onwards the new online registration software Vahan 4.0 is in place in Srinagar. “The main feature of the software is that the registration detail of the vehicle will be available online (at www.parivahan.gov.in) thereby putting the information of the RTO in public domain and reducing the hassles in providing the authenticities of the vehicle across the country,” he added.
Rather further added that with the introduction of the system, efforts would be made to introduce many people-friendly features like payment gateways wherein online payments or payments other than the cash counters of the office would be possible.
He also said that RTO office is in the process of introduction of online software for licensing, which would enable people to upload the required documents and details at www.parivahan.gov.in and after the registration, an appointment will be fixed at particular date and time.
“The process has already been started at Pulwama and Bandipora and in Srinagar it would start from January 11, 2017. After the start of this software the applicants do not have to wait in long queues, they can upload the particulars from home and then the department will issue a time slot to them for further action,” he added.
He said the department in order to provide relief to the people is bringing in technical interventions. “This is just a beginning and everything will be done to make the system easy and accessible,” the RTO added.
