JAMMU, Jan 6: With a view to connect remote and far-flung habitations of the Kishtwar district with road network, the Government has formulated an ambitious plan to construct 150 kilometers road length involving a whooping sum of Rs. 142 crore. Requisite Draft Project Reports for this purpose have been already prepared.
This was stated at a meeting of the engineers of Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojna held here today in Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Industries, Commerce, Home & Tourism, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo.
The meeting was convened to take stock of different ongoing road communication projects in various areas of the district especially in Warwan, Paddar, Marwah & Kishtwar.
Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Jammu, M.M. Gupta, Superintendent Engineer, Raman Puri and concerned engineers was present in the meeting.
The engineers informed the Minister that DPR for construction of Margan Top Anantnag to Mul- Warwan, Kundal to Affani and Sohal to Chetu in Paddar Block, Kuriya Keshwan road to Loidhar and Kandni to Ohli Road Phase II in Kishtwar Block and Nopachi to Deharna upto Honzal, Ikhala Kishtwar to Lopara, Pathgam to Rinaie, Sirshi to Chicha and Nopachi to Deharna Part II roads, all in Marwah Block, have been completed.
Mr. Kichloo enjoined upon the concerned engineers to conduct a comprehensive survey for construction of road network from Inshan to Kishtwar and Inshan to Marwah and submit it to the Government as early as possible so that required funds are earmarked to take up these road projects.
He said road construction in these remote and backward areas was imperative to improve living standard of the people who have to travel long distances through tough and rugged hilly terrain to get essential commodities and basic amenities for their sustances.
The meeting was informed that under construction Rs. 17 crore Gahan to Chandali road, Rs. 12.27 crore Bhugrana to Kalchanda, 21 kilometers long Sohal to Kaban road costing Rs. 26.25 crore and Rs. 23.70 crore Agral to Lawar roads will be completed by the end of current financial year which will provide great relief to the people of these bad pockets of Kishtwar district.
Earlier, in a separate meeting, the Minister reviewed stock and supply position of essential commodities in various snow bound areas of Kishtwar district especially which are presently landlocked and asked the Director CA&PD Department to ensure that people of these areas get adequate supply of food grains. The Director assured that no laxity will be allowed in this regard.
