Rs 13 lakh looted from J&K Bank

Srinagar, Dec 8: Militants today robbed Arihal branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Pulwama district of over Rs 13 lakh.
At around 1 p.m. three masked gunmen appeared at Arihal Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank and looted Rs 13.38 lakh cash at gun point. Out of Rs 13.38 lakh, Rs 11.15 lakh cash notes were new while rest was old currency notes.
Militants also fired few shots in air to scare away people. After looting the bank, the militants managed to escape from the spot along with the cash. Soon after the incident, police, Army and other security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off entire area. However, no one was arrested or detained.
Earlier, an attempt to loot a bank at Poshkar in Budgam was made by gunmen.
