The Government today announced Rs 1000 worth monthly pension for widows and physically challenged persons, who were 60 per cent or more handicapped.
In his reply to the budget, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu said the widows were earlier getting Rs 200 pension from one of the schemes of the State and Rs 500 from a Central scheme. They will now get Rs 1000 pension per month.
The physically challenged persons, who were handicapped by 60 per cent or more, will also get Rs 1000 pension per month, he announced amidst thumping of desks by the treasury benches.
