Rs 1.90 cr old notes offered at Vaishno Devi

JAMMU, Dec 10: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has received Rs 1.90 crores worth old notes in the denomination of 1000 and 500 post-demonetization as donations offered at the Vaishno Devi ji shrine and other temples including Adh-Kunwari, Bhairon Ghati etc.
Official sources said the devotees had offered old notes at different shrines including the holy cave at Mata Vaishno Devi ji in the donation boxes of Shrine Board, which have been worked out at Rs 1.90 crores.
Entire demonetized cash has been deposited in the banks by the Shrine Board, they said.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation from Gujarat today visited the Shrine Board office in Katra after paying obeisance to Goddess Vaishno Devi ji in Trikuta Hills and were all praise for the cleanliness maintained all along the track and the shrine.
They said they will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign is being implemented in letter and spirit by the Shrine Board.
