UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Talwara under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Uniform Force Headquarters, Reasi conducted a series of Volleyball Tournaments for the local youth of villages Chaladh, Kunalagala, Talwara, Chakal Salta, Shikari and Barakh with an endeavour to identify sporting talent at village level.
Six teams from adjoining villages participated in the week-long Tournament, the aim of which was to attract the youth towards the spirit of the game, create a healthy outlet for youthful energy and foster friendship and harmony amongst the locals.
The competitive spirit, zeal and enthusiasm of the players to clinch title for their village was delight to watch amidst cheering of the spectators. Experienced players in the region gave their coaching tips to develop the skill of youngsters.
The conduct of Volleyball matches under project Sadbhavana received an overwhelming response from the locals. The Army has assured continued support on such goodwill project. The conduct of such rural sports event would strengthen the adventurous streak amongst the youth of the region.
The local populace thanked the Army authorities and village sports development bodies for conduct of the Tournament and providing opportunity to the youth to showcase their talent.
