Robust demand lifts cardamom futures by 2 %

NEW DELHI, Mar 6: Cardamom prices rose further by 1.91 per cent to Rs 1,153.80 per kg in futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions amid uptick in domestic as well as export demand at the spot market.
Besides, tight stock position on fall in arrivals from major producing regions fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in the current month shot up by Rs 21.70, or 1.91 per cent to Rs 1,153.80 per kg in a business turnover of 14 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in April contract traded higher by Rs 15.90, or 1.40 per cent to Rs 1,148.10 per kg in 69 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants on the back of robust domestic as well as exports demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade. (PTI)
