Robbery at wine shop, Association seeks immediate arrest of culprits

JAMMU, Sept 17: Apart from snatching and vehicle lifting incidents, a fresh incident of robbery came into light from Gandhi Nagar, where three masked bikers barged along with pistol and sharp edged weapons entered into a wine shop, beat up the salesman and robbed Rs 20,000 cash. However, Wine Shop Traders Association sought immediate arrest of the culprits.
As per police sources, three masked men carrying pistol and sharp edged weapons entered Novelty Wine Shop owned by Pawan Verma at Gandhi Nagar at closing time yesterday.
The accused beat up the salesman of the shop, looted Rs 20,000 cash and managed to escape from the spot taking benefit of the darkness.
The incident was reported to Gandhi Nagar Police Station, where a case under relevant Sections was registered and manhunt launched to nab the robbers.
However, police has failed to arrest the robbers till late tonight and are also clueless about snatchers and bike lifters despite increasing patrolling in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
Meanwhile, President of Wine Shop Traders Association Charanjit Singh along with other members of the association met Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Uttam Chand and apprised him about the robbery incident.
Charanjit Singh while speaking sought immediate action and arrest of the accused behind the robbery.
