Road Safety XI crushes Pattan XI by 9 wickets

JAMMU, Feb 22: Riding on a brilliant 5-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Rompy Sharma, Road Safety XI thrashed Pattan XI by 9 wickets in a one-sided contest of the ongoing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being played at Country Cricket Academy ground, Gharota, near here.
The objective of the tournament is to provide platform to the hidden talent of the budding cricketers, particularly from rural areas.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Pattan XI bundled out for a paltry total of 66 runs. Rompy Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets.
In reply, Road Safety XI chased the target in 10 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Rompy Sharma was adjudged as the man of the match for his superb bowling display.
In another match played today, Legends XI defeated Happening XI by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Happening XI scored 136 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
Legends XI chased the target in 17 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Naseer was declared as the man of the match for his all-round display, scoring valuable 38 runs and taking 3 important wickets.
