Rizvi reviews working of Labour Deptt

JAMMU, Nov 28: Commissioner/Secretary, Labour and Employment, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi today reviewed the progress on implementation of various Labour Acts by the department and the benefits disbursed to workers and labourers in a meeting held here today.
Labour Commissioner Dr Abdul Rashid was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the Commissioner took a detailed district wise account of Labour Laws viz., Employee’s Compensation Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, Motor Transport Workers Act, Interstate Migrant Workmen Act, Building and Other Construction Workers Act and Shops and Establishment Act.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned officers to accelerate the disposal of cases under various acts to ensure benefits of welfare measures reach to the workers. He further asked the Assistant Labour Commissioners to update their records and put in efforts for Aadhaar seeding of information of labour force in the State.
He also asked ALCs to make functional all labour sarai and labour welfare centres that are with proper record of labourers availing these facilities. He also directed the concerned to create awareness about Labour laws and benefits presumed thereof among the labour force present in the State.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Labour Commissioner Ankur Mahajan, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central) K.L.Sharma and ALCs of all the districts of the division.
