Rifle snatched from police, recovered

Srinagar, Dec 16: An INSAS rifle that was snatched from police today after a police party came under stone pelting attack in Central Kashmir district of Budgam, was recovered this evening.
Police said that in Budgam, a scuffle took place between two groups over some issue at Makhama. A police party from police station Magam reached the spot this afternoon soon after the culmination of Friday prayers.
Police reached the spot immediately to restore normalcy and bring order among the unruly groups. “However, some miscreants started pelting stones on the police party. During this incident some unknown persons snatched an INSAS rifle and fled away”, police said.
Police has taken cognizance and a case has been registered in the matter.
Police later recovered the rifle after they launched a hunt. The person has been arrested and sources said that it was not snatched by the militants.
