Rich tributes paid to Kasturba Gandhi

JAMMU, Feb 22: Paying homage to Kasturba Gandhi on her 73rd death Anniversary, Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Ground today organised a one day seminar in collaboration with Beti and  Shiksha (B&S) Foundation New Delhi and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti New Delhi.
Glorious tributes were paid to Kasturba Gandhi and other women freedom fighters by the speakers and their role in fighting for civil rights and independence of India were highlighted.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Chief Secretary, B R Sharma DG Home Guards, J K Sharma, Social Activist Sushil Pandit, renowned artist and  writer and former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Prof Rita Jitendra, Chairperson IAS Officers’ Wives Association J&K, Ruby Sharma, President B&S Foundation, Renu Sharma, Principal GCW and others.
The seminar was informed that Kasturba Gandhi fought along with Gandhi Ji for civil rights and Indian independence against the British. She acted as a pillar of support to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and her involvement in national and social causes motivated other women to join the socio-political movements that were gaining momentum in India.
