Rich tributes paid to Prem Nath Shastri on his 18th Nirwan Diwas

JAMMU, Aug 9: The 18th Nirwan Divas of Pt Prem Nath Shastri was observed today. In this connection a grand function was organized by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan at Ajit Colony, Gole Gujral near here in which the MLA Jammu East and Chief Whip BJP in State Assembly Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest while Ajay Bharti MLC and Swami Kumar Ji were the guests of honour.
The function was presided over by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri president Shodh Sansthan and Sampadhak Vijeshwar Panchang.
On the occasion a Maha Yagya was also solemnized by the Sansthan and devotees were served with prashad after puranahuti.
All the dignitaries paid floral tributes to Pt Prem Nath Shastri the doyen of Kashmiri  culture  and a great scholar of shastras. Rajesh Gupta termed him a great pillar of Kashmiri culture who had made immense contribution in preserving the rich Hindu culture and ethos of Kashmir viz a viz India.
In his address Ajay Bharti said that Shastri Ji was not only a great scholar of Shastras but a social scientist also who believed in practicing religion on scientific basis and also took bold initiative to rid the society from some evil and redundant customs.
Swami Kumar Ji, while speaking on the occasion termed Shastri Ji a guide and Guru who tried to enforce various reforms in community during his life time.
Ashwani Chrungoo president Panun Kashmir recalled the Association of Shastri Ji with Panun Kashmir and said that he wholehearted advocated for demand of separate homeland for Hindus of Kashmir within Valley and always gave his blessings to the youth who launched a crusade for separate homeland for Pandits in Valley.
Others who paid tributes to Shastri Ji included Dr Susheel Wattal, B L Bhat, Virender Raina, Comrade Mohan Lal, Kuldeep Pandita, Kuldeep Raina, Nana Ji Raina,  S L Koul, Chand Ji Bhat, Ashok Hali, B L Harkar, Chand Ji etc.
In his presidential address Pt O N Shastri highlighted the working of Shodh Sansthan. He said Shastri Ji besides a scholar was also a social reformer and a thinker ahead of his time who introduced many reforms in the society during his life time.
The function was among others attended by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner , M L Raina, Kuldeep Khuda former Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Kiran Wattal former Commissioner JMC and Bushan Lal Jyotshi.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Jyotshi Avtar Krishan.
