NEW DELHI, Jan 22: S K Foundation in its National Council meeting today said that rehabilitation of the uprooted Kashmiri Pandits community is neither possible nor practicable under the present scenario, created by inimical forces.
The Foundation which has submitted a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the saner elements, elite members of the community, who cannot be carried over for a ride, feel distressed, at the usage of word, which act as remote-control of the external forces.
The letter written by the Chairman of the Foundation, Sunil Shakhder said rehabilitation is a wider term which comprise of moral, social, ethical and economic elements. Constructing pigeon-hole sheds and extending doles, as a subsistence allowance is not being all end of what all the exiled community has lost. “We at the Foundation appeal political masters at Central & State level should apply their rational mind, without exposing their bankrupt mind and shun policy of appeasement’’. It would be foolhardy to go in for any change, till it is calibrated from outside.
It said the Jammu and Kashmir Government is following a scorched earth policy with reference to Pandits. Can they restore the bonhomie of bygone days of peace and tranquility which was the spiritual food to our starving mind? True happiness springs from heart and when hearts are broken, there is a breach of trust. Nothing can supplement the irreparable loss suffered by Kashmiri Pandits fractured community, it added.
The letter said the attempt is made to create a wedge and divide in the brotherhood by spreading canards floating unfounded rumors. Kashmiri Pandits who are leading a refugees life within their country have lost identity as a community. Kashmiri Pandits Community have lost their ancestral home, with which they had been in deep attachment. “Under the present circumstances and scenario how come the Pandits don’t figure anymore?” “We seek your kind intervention and meeting with community members”, the letter further added.
