Retd employees highlight demands

JAMMU, June 16: Retired Employees’ Welfare Association (REWA) today highlighted demands in a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Dalbir Singh Sudan, its chairman.
Addressing the meeting, Dalbir Singh Sudan said that the members of this association spent their whole life as a tool of Government machine with dedication but after attaining superannuation, their wages were reduced to one-third while the responsibilities are still on their shoulders.
He said that prices of basic amenities are going up sharply and pensioners have no other source of income except monthly pension. In last few years, the prices of medicines and consultation fees of doctors have witnessed a sharp increase and these services have gone beyond the approach of pensioners.
Sudan appealed the Government to enhance their medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 per month, implementation of Medi-claim policy and payment of 7th Pay Commission arrears in one go for all pensioners.
