Restrictions imposed in parts of Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Authorities today imposed restrictions in parts of the city due to apprehensions of violent protests after Friday prayers, a police official said today.
Restrictions have been imposed in seven police station areas of Srinagar city of Maisuma, Maharajgunj, Nowhatta, Kralkhud, Khanyar, Safakadal and Rainawari, he said.
“Restrictions are imposed as a precautionary measure due to apprehensions of violent protests after Friday prayers,” the police official said.
Separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik had asked people to register peaceful protests against several issues including the increasing number of braid chopping incidents. (AGENCIES)
