SAMBA, Feb 9: The residents held protest against Power Development Department (PDD) and blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
Large number of residents from Jatwal and adjoining villages assembled at Jatwal Chowk and held protest against PDD.
Amid slogans, the protesters blocked the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
The protesters alleged that the PDD has failed to restore the power supply in their villages despite lapse of over one week.
“We are facing hardships due to non-availability of electricity in the ongoing winter season. The worst suffers are students as they are preparing for the ensuing examinations and due to non-availability of electricity they can’t study”, the protesters alleged.
After getting information, MoS Rash Pal Verma, SDH Ghagwal Narayan Dutt Sharma and DySP VS Katal rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that their issue will be resolved at the earliest.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed.
