SAMBA, Aug 25: To register their anger against opening of wine shop on Railway Road, the residents of the areas including women staged a demonstration at main chowk Vijaypur on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway here today.
The protesters disrupted movement of vehicular traffic for one and half hour on National Highway today evening due to which commuters were put to grave trouble.
The protesters raised slogans against district administration as well as the Government and accused them of paying no heed to their pleas. They demanded that the wine shop should not be opened in their area as it will create a public nuisance.
After the assurance by ADC Samba the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
It is pertinent to say that government has ordered to shift the wine shops 500 mts away from National Highway.
