Replacement of poles from Sainik Colony road demanded

JAMMU, Feb 16: Inhabitants of Sector D & E of Sainik Colony are demanding immediate replacement of electric and telephone poles from the Shaheed Udham Singh Marg which are creating impediments in its blacktopping.
In a statement the residents of the area through Ajit Singh president Ramleela Club said that out of 64 feet road in these two sectors only eight feet road has been blacktopped as the rest could not be done due to presence of electric and BSNL poles.
He said the representatives of the area have submitted memorandums to concerned officers of both the departments but all in vain as they failed to shift the poles from the road due to which the R&B Department is not in a position to blacktop the road upto 40 feet width properly.
He said being developed colony the residents are demanding widening of road to 40 feet but due to the presence of the poles of BSNL and Power Development Department (PDD) this is not possible.
In an appeal to authorities of PDD and BSNL Singh demanded immediate shifting of poles from the road so that the problems of the people are eased.
