Renault opens design academy to foster talent in car design

NEW DELHI, Mar 2:  French auto maker Renault has opened its first-ever design academy in Chennai to train young talent.

The academy will be operational from April 3, 2017 and will operate out of the Renault Design Studio in Chennai, a brand new facility fully-equipped for developing new vehicles.

As part of the programme, an exclusive six months training in car design will be offered to select six design graduates, post which they will get a professional internship certificate and the best two candidates will receive a permanent designer job offer from Renault.

“India remains one of the important markets for Groupe Renault. The start of the new design academy is a testimony of our strong customer centric approach and long-term vision to strategically developing the skill-set of workforce,” Head of Renault Design India studios Patrick Lecharpy said in a statement.

A total of 400 entries were received from various parts of the world including Italy, USA, Russia, India, Brazil, Argentina, Poland, France, Germany, UK, Iran, Korea, Japan and China.

The judging panel comprising of Lecharpy, Luciano Bove, Alain Lonay and Philippe Ponceau selected the six candidates on the basis of their creativity and skills level. (PTI)
