Remote areas under focused attention for development: Zulfkar

RAJOURI: Underlining the commitment of the government for socio-economic development of rural pockets, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that pioneering developmental initiatives have been taken and focused attention is being paid to equip the rural areas with all required basic infrastructure.

While addressing a mammoth public gathering after inaugurating model village at Hubbi in Rajouri, the Minister said; “Improvement and upgradation of basic amenities like healthcare, education, road network, water and power supply in all villages is getting focused attention of the government. Our objective is to make every village a model village and every household a prosperous abode for its inhabitants”.

He said the present government is fully dedicated to revolutionize development scenario of the state and bring about healthy change in the conditions of rural population.

Terming development of villages and remote corners of the state as the priority area of the government, the Minister said the growth of the state’s rural belts has been incorporated as an important provision in its development policy so that targets set under various schemes could percolate to the rural belts also.”Encouraging support from the central government  in funding different projects in the state has resulted  in launching  of mega infrastructure  developmental projects in all regions and sub-regions  of the state thus ensuring  equitable  development”, he added.

Describing completion of works within the targeted timeframe as the most important factor for ensuring benefits to the people at ground-level, the Minister stressed on all concerned to observe all aspects of financial discipline.

Apprising the Minister regarding facilities provided in the newly-inaugurated model village, ACD Rajouri said that Rs 2.02crore has been spent on various works relating to upgradation of public amenities in the village. He said community facilities, smart classrooms, foot bridges, tractor roads, lanes drains and roads have also been provided in the model village.

Later, the Minister visited Manohargala, Swari, and Kha and interacted with the people. Huge gathering of local inhabitants briefed the Minister regarding various problems being faced by them like shortage of water supply, power supply, strengthening of the interior link roads etc. Minister gave a patient hearing to the demands of the people and assured them to resolve all these issues.

District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Director FCS&CA, G S Chib, Additional District Development Commissioner, A.S.Chib, Executive Engineers of PHE Nissar Khan, PWD Sadeeq Wani, PDD Ashok Parihar, Assistant Commissioner Development  Rajouri Noor Alam, DSWO Dr Abdul Kabir, beside all other district officers accompanied the Minister.
