Relief cheques distributed among landslide victims

UDHAMPUR, Feb 1: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal distributed cheques worth Rs. 2, 75,000 among the victims of landslide that occurred last year at Chubbu Nallah near Panchari block in Udhampur district for their rehabilitation.
The DDC handed over cheques of Rs. 25,000 each for the construction of houses among the 11 families at Conference Hall.
Assistant Commissioner Development, Pawan Parihar, Block Development Officer, Panchari, Sajjad Bashir Sumbria and officials of Rural Development Department were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that in the first phase an amount of Rs. 25,000 each for the construction of house was distributed among the beneficiaries and remaining two installments would be disbursed to them after the completion of respective phase wise construction.
She said that a total of 15 families were affected due to land erosion at Chubbu Nallah and compensation under the scheme would be provided to the remaining affected families soon after the completion of necessary clarification.
The DDC complemented the coordinated efforts of the Rural Development Department for preparing the detail project to benefit the affected people of the area. She revealed that a chunk of land had also been provided to affected families of the landslide in village Mir of block Panchari.
