Rehri-Fadi Workers Union holds protest

JAMMU, Mar 23: Rehri-Fadi Workers Union Jammu held protest here today under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), here today against the draconian move of the Traffic Police Department to lift the rehri-fadis of poor workers.
A large number of rehri-fadi workers across the Jammu city participated in the protest and raised slogans against the civil administration.
Addressing the gathering, Om Parkash, General Secretary CITU said that the Government agency particularly the traffic police has created havoc by forcibly evicting rehri-fadi of workers, who belong to down trodden section of society.

He informed that a memorandum has been handed over to Divisional Commissioner Jammu on March 14 but nothing has been done till today. He urged the workers to intensify their struggle till their demands are not redressed.
Sham Prasad Kesar, senior leader CITU said that Government needs to become the facilitator in allowing its vast poor population to earn their livelihood by starting their small ventures, but it looks extremely strange that one its premier agencies has rendered them jobless and Government seems to be silent spectator.
Jagdish Sharma and Jia Lal Parihar while speaking urged the Government to allow the poor people to continue with their rehri-fadi trade so that the marginalized section of the society will be able to earn their livelihood.
