Addressing the protesting Rehriwalas and Fadiwalas, CITU general secretary, Om Parkash, condemned the move of traffic police, which rendered poor daily earners jobless. “Not only they were rendered jobless but also the innocent poor workers were brutally beaten by traffic police and unlawfully detained in the lockup for one or two days without any reason”, he alleged and further added that even purchasable material and cash were also snatched by the traffic police from these hapless workers.
He urged the present Government to permit the poor workers to re-install their Rehris/Fadis, as traffic police has created havoc in over past one month by forcibly evicting them from Jammu city due to which they are deprived to feed their families.
CITU leader, Sham Parsad Kesar, said that Government needs to become facilitator in allowing its vast poor population to earn their livelihood by starting their small ventures, but it looks extremely strange that one of its premier agencies has rendered them jobless and Government seems to be a silent spectator.
Jia Lal Parihar, Ramesh Chand and Jagdish Sharma were also present at the protest site.
