Regularisation of casual workers anti-employee: EEU

Srinagar, Dec 26: Two weeks after the Government decided to regularise over sixty thousand casual workers working with different departments in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Employees Union (EEU) has termed the move as “anti-employee” which would barely improve the lives of the employees.
A spokesperson of JKEEU said the joke in the name of regularisation of sixty thousand daily wagers issued under SRO 250 was highly condemned by the members of the union. ” As per the SRO the people being regularised may be called government employees but they will not get benefits like DA, HRA or medical allowance. They will not get any promotions. We can call them Permanent daily wagers”, he said, adding the members termed the policy as a deathblow to the employees of Power Development Department.
He added that the employees of the department have to face life-threatening situations on daily basis and there was no security cover in the policy, “there is no policy about those who have spent less than 10 years in the department as well. In case of an accident, the employees will get nothing as no such provision has been kept in  SRO 520”, he said.
