Reforms will be gradual

Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has reflected on various administrative decisions likely to be taken by the NDA Government in due course of time that will have far reaching impact on country’s economic health. He was answering a battery of questions that are uppermost in the mind of media persons and stakeholders.
The present Government is in favour of change and reform is a settled issue. But the change cannot be brought about by undoing all that has been one in the past even if it has not produced satisfactory results. Change has to be sector wise and no blanket change formula can work. NDA Government is interested in widening the scope of foreign investment and therefore would like to create conditions favourable for foreign investment. But priorities have to be fixed. There is much to do but the Government has to be clear what can be done. Much needs to be done in the labour reform sector because many existing rules are not compatible with present day requirements.
