Reformative steps taken to identify, explore sports talent during past over three years: Chib

JAMMU, Sept 10: Mohun Bagan Club, Kolkata, will clash with J&K XI in Goodwill Football match at Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College football ground, tomorrow.
This was stated by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, RS Chib, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He said that J&K State Sports Council is organizing the event in collaboration with J&K Football Association.
Chib termed the Goodwill match as mega event for which he said all arrangements have been put in place. He hoped that more spectators would come to witness the match, which will be played at GGM Science College football ground at 3:30 pm tomorrow.
The match will be relayed live on Doordarshan, which is also a biggest achievement, Chib added.
Announcing the name of the players of team, Chib said that Vikramjeet Singh will be the Captain of JK-XI, while, Asif Majid will be the vice captain.
All India Football Federation has selected three football players of J&K for advanced training to groom their talent optimally, he added.
He said various reformative steps have been taken to identify and explore the sports talent during the past over three years in the field of sports, besides providing a conducive platform to the sports persons by holding national level games.
He informed that timely training is being imparted to the talented sportspersons in nationally reputed institutes to hone their skills in their respective fields.
Chib referred to sanction of an indoor multi-purpose sports complex, coming up at Jammu besides the proposed Football Synthetic Astro turf in GGM Science College and Hockey Astro turf at Baramulla for the current year.
Among others present were Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jammu, Jaipal Singh, Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), President, JK Football Association, Joint Director Information, Soujanaya Sharma, officials of DYSS and civil administration.
It is to mention here that Mohun Bagan Club thrashed JK-XI by four goals to zero (4-0) in the Goodwill Football match, played at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, recently.
