SRINAGAR, Aug 22: National Conference (NC) Provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani has termed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s decision to reduce Electricity Duty by a significant 12% as a big pro-people decision that will go a long way in reducing the power-bills for consumers in the State. Instead of the earlier 22%, the Chief Minister announced the reduction of the Electricity Duty by 12% to 10% going forward.
Speaking to various public delegations from Srinagar who called on the NC Provincial president to discuss developmental works and public issues in their respective areas, Wani hailed the vision and statesmanship of CM in taking bold, concrete and historic measures to provide enormous benefits to the people of the State.
“Omar Sahib has gone beyond what any CM has done for this State and has time and again exhibited the leadership and statesmanship to give relief and succor to the poor and needy. The reduction in Electricity Duty is another measure that will drastically reduce the power-bills of the common man – thereby encouraging him to continue playing a role in the economic resurgence and re-development of this State”, the NC Provincial president said.
“Every section of people in this State has benefited in practical terms due to the leadership of Omar Abdullah and this is something proven by deeds, facts and figures. The rhetoric of the opposition is blunted in comparison to the fact that NC has consistently fulfilled its promises made with the common-man”, Wani added while speaking to various public delegations.
The NC leader said that party had brought an unprecedented economic revolution in Srinagar by boosting public infrastructure, retail infrastructure and tourism infrastructure in measures that were never seen in the past. The Omar Government ushered this State into an era of normalcy and facilitated unprecedented economic development by bringing in new progressive laws and policies and launching initiatives for employment generation, industrial development and entrepreneurship”, Nasir said.
