Reasi group clash: Admn demolishes illegal construction at disputed site

Illegal construction being removed from the disputed land at Sailanjan in Reasi on Thursday.

REASI, Oct 17: A day after violent clash between the members of two communities at village Sailanjan Gujjar Kothi near Salal over land dispute, the district administration today demolished illegal construction at the disputed land.
A team comprising DySP Headquarter J D Slathia, Tehsildar R K Anand, Naib Tehsildars Rajesh Baru and Prithvi Singh along with field officials and police party, demolished the illegal construction in Khasra number  240, 241 situated at village Sailanjan where clash between two groups erupted yesterday leaving 9 persons injured, said an official spokesman.
Two FIRs were registered in the matter. Show cause notice has also been issued to authorities of NHPC Salal for abandoning the land acquired in 1984 which has now become a dispute between some groups of people.
Meanwhile, ACR Tilak Raj Sharma has also initiated the Magisterial Enquiry into land dispute at Sailanjan and issued notices for appearances. Revenue and Police officials have also been summoned for investigation.
A notice has been issued to general public for deposing before the magisterial inquiry for investigation into clash between rival groups followed by violation of Section 144 imposed prohibiting forcible closure of markets and unlawful assembly in public premises including district hospital where some youth were beaten by protestors.
Police are investigating into violation of Section 144 order issued by District Magistrate and an FIR is likely to be registered in this connection, the spokesman said.
Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and SSP Sharief Chouhan accompanied by other officer toured to various areas and also held review meeting to assess security situation.
