Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Championship concludes

KATRA, Dec 6: Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Championship, organized by Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Association under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and under the banner of J&K State Sports Council, concluded at Kalka Akhara, Reasi today.
The Championship was held under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and General Secretary Reasi District Indian Style Wrestling Association, Neresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
In the Championship, 40 wrestlers from various Tehsils and Akharas participated in nine weight categories of 35 Kg, 45 Kg, 50 Kg, 55 Kg, 61 Kg, 75 Kg, 85 Kg and + 85 Kg.
Minister of State for Finance, Planning, CAPD, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Nanda was the chief guest on the occasion who presented medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up wrestlers in presence of Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, who is also Treasurer of Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Bansi Lal Tidyal, retired Tehsildar and General Secretary of State Wrestling Association was also present on the occasion.
Mulkh Raj, NIS Wrestling coach and chairman technical committee of J&K State Wrestling Association and Ashok Singh conducted the proceedings of the event, while welcome address was presented by associate Vice President Wrestling Federation of India Shiv Kumar Sharma and vote of thanks was presented by General Secretary of Reasi District Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
The bouts were officiated by Prem Kumar, Retd. JE Surinder Kumar, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Suram Singh, Deeraj Kesar, Ramnik Nowadha, Tony Shah, Kesari Singh Sarpanch, Nadeem, Ashok Singh, Capt. Lehar Singh (Retd) and Pahelwan Karam Deen.
Minister today advocated for providing better facilites to the budding sports persons and lavished praise on young wrestlers. Ajay Nanda said that the need is to spot and explore it by providing better facilities to the budding sports persons.
While lauding the organizers for holding the wrestling championship for young wrestlers smoothly and successfully, Nanda said that kids are the future of State and the nation as well. Minister was accompanied by social activist, Executive Member State BJP Shed Magotra and another Executive Member and Prominent citizen Chain Singh.
Overall Championship went to Narkot Akhara.
