Reach out to people, resolve their problems: Lal Singh to officers

KATHUA, Dec 3: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today directed the officers of various departments to pay regular visits to their respective jurisdictions and personally monitor the genuine issues of the general masses. He said Government is committed to create modern facilities in every part of the State.
The Minister was interacting with the locals at a Public Grievances Redressal Camp, held here today.
He said that Government is aware of the problems of the people and to mitigate these instructions have already been given to the administration for early redressal of genuine demands of the people. He said there is no constraint of funds in providing all the basic amenities to the people across the district.
Choudhary Lal Singh asked the officers to complete all the ongoing projects in the Kathua district within the stipulated timeframe by using quality material. He said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the developmental schemes.
The Minister asked the officers to formulate Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) envisaging the left out developmental works in the area and submit the same to the concerned quarters for funding so that the work could be started at the earliest.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that Central Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided liberal funding under core sectors for J&K but need of the hour is to utilize them in full so that maximum benefit can reach the people.
Responding to the demands of residents of Hiranagar, Basohli and Kathua town, the Minister informed that Government has approved the project for laying of water supply pipes of 4 inch dia in the peripheral areas of the district where people face drinking water shortage, adding that the digging work would be started soon after completing tendering formalities.
Regarding upgradation of lanes and drains including nallahs, the Minister asked the concerned officers to prepare DPRs and submit the same for funding so that the projects could be taken up at the earliest for the convenience of the general people of the district.
Choudhary Lal Singh asked the Municipal Committee to depute regular teams of civic workers in the localities for maintaining clean and healthy environment.
