RCC Srinagar registers comprehensive win in Chief Minister’s Cup

JAMMU, Feb 19: Team work helped Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Srinagar to script a comprehensive victory by 7 wickets over Krishan Cricket Club Akhnoor in the ongoing Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, being organized by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council at Gharota, near here.
The Championship is being organized in the memory of former Chief Minster, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, under the supervision of Director Country Cricket Academy, Vikrant Sharma and its Managing Director, Vivek Sharma, former Ranji Trophy player.
Earlier, put into bat by RCC skipper Puneet Wattal, Krishan Cricket Club Akhnoor bundled out for a modest total of 121 runs in 29.3 overs. Chandan was the top scorer with 64 runs, studded with 8 boundaries and one six, while Rohit contributed 12 runs to the meagre total. For RCC Srinagar, left-arm spinner Nitin was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets by conceding 17 runs in his 7 overs, while another left-arm spinner Dilbagh Singh bagged 3 wickets and off-spinner Praful Dhar claimed 2 wickets. Medium pacer Majid also picked one wicket.
In reply, RCC riding on brilliant knocks of unbeaten 47 and 39 runs by Dimple and Puneet Wattal respectively and chased the target easily in 21 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Both Dimple and Puneet played with fluidity and grace and applied themselves to almost a perfection. Dimple hit 4 magnificent boundaries in his 45-ball knock, while Puneet’s 47-ball innings was studded with 5 splendid fours. Surya remained not out on 4 runs. For Krishan Cricket Club, Sunny, Pankaj and Pardeep shared one wicket each. Nitin of RCC Srinagar was declared as man of the match for his brilliant bowling display.
The match was officiated by Ashok and Pardeep Sharma as umpires, while Swastik Sharma was the scorer.
