RBI Introduces Rs 10 banknote in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series

 

MUMBAI, Jan 6:The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  will shortly issue Rs 10 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Dr. Urjit R  Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India.

    The new denomination has motif of Sun Temple, Konark on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Chocolate Brown.

   Dimension of the banknote will be 63 mm x 123 mm. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.

    Existing banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender. Other features of the new not include, a see-through register with denominational numeral 10, Denominational numeral 10 in Devnagari script, portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, The new note will continue to have windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions ‘Bharat (in devnagri ).

    The new series of Rs 10 note  will have the year of printing of the note on the left, the ‘Swachh Bharat’ logo with slogan, and language panel. These notes are expected to be put into circulation by the RBI and banks through their branches. (UNI)
