JAMMU, May 15: International cricketer and Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy skipper, Parvez Rasool continued his outstanding show in the prestigious Dhaka Premier League while playing for Gazi Group Cricketers, here.
In their 9th outing in the League, unbeaten Gazi Group Cricketers thrashed Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity (KSKS) by 7 wickets to be at the top of the points table.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, KSKS managed to score a modest total of 177 runs in the allotted 43 overs. Amit Mujumder top scored with 49 runs off 55 balls, studded with 5 fours and one six, while Robiul Islam contributed 41 runs off 65 balls. Rafsan Muhmud and Nazimuddin also chipped in with 28 and 25 runs respectively. For Gazi Group Cricketers , medium pacer, Abu Hider scalped 4 wickets by conceding 35 runs in his quota of 9 overs, while off-spinner Parvez Rasool took 2 important wickets by giving away 34 runs in his 9 overs.
In reply, Gazi Group Cricketers chased the target easily in 36.1 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Anamul Haque top scored with 67 runs off 77 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes, while Sohrawadi Shuvo contributed 58 runs off 83 balls to the total. Parvez Rasool played an unbeaten innings of 42 off 42 balls, studded with 5 boundaries and a six. For KSKS, Tanvir Islam took all the three wickets to fall. For his brilliant all-round display, Rasool was adjudged as man of the match.
Out of the nine matches that Gazi Group Cricketers played so far, Rasool played 8 matches and won 3 man of the match awards, scoring 247 runs in the 5 innings with 53 not out, 53, 91, 06 and 42 not out, besides taking 14 wickets in the League so far, with 4/28 in 10 overs and 3/17 in 10 overs as his best figures.
