JAMMU, Oct 19: In a rare honour Dr. Rekha Harish, Professor & Head, Department of Paediatrics Government Medical College Jammu was invited by Food Standards and Safety Authority of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at FDA Bhawan, New Delhi as one of the Experts in the Committee for Laying Guidelines for making available Quality and Safe Food in Schools.
Others inducted in the Committee are Professors from AIIMS, National Institute of Nutrition Hyderabad, Lady Hardinge Medical College and Director Centre of Environmental Sciences Dr Sunita Narain.
Recognised at national level for her dedicated & sincere efforts for contributions towards the health of children of the country twice during her tenures as an Executive Board Member of National Indian Academy of Paediatrics (a body of over 20000 Pediatricians of the country), she has been interviewed & quoted this year in Reader’s Digest and Times of India too.
As a National Convenor of this Task Force & leading a group of Professors of Paediatrics from various renowned Institutes of the country, she has decided multipronged strategies to tackle the menace of influence of advertisements on eating behaviours of children,which led to her nomination for this expert group.
