JAMMU, Sept 15: Maharaja Hari Singh’s great-grandson, Ranvijay Singh has reiterated his resolve to fight for ensuring rightful place in the history for the last ruler of the State Maharaja Hari Singh.
In a press release issued here today, Ranvijay demanded declaration of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh on September 23 every year.
He has extended an invitation to the people of the State for joining him for celebrating Maharaja’s birth anniversary at Hari Niwas Palace on September 23 this month. He implored upon the people across the State to celebrate the day with full enthusiasm as it was Maharaja Hari Singh who ensured State’s accession to India.
Singh expressed anguish over the fact that the historians have been very unkind and unjust to the great Maharaja despite his developmental, non-partisan, and progressive rule just before the independence. People especially the educated youth must come forward to educate others about his achievements and to follow his principles of justice and good governance, he added.
He called upon the people of the state to rise above party politics and regional bias to fight for a due place in the history for the benevolent ruler like Maharaja Hari Singh who stood for secularism, social inclusiveness, and balanced development of all the regions of the State.
