JAMMU, Jan 27: The National Conference today said in the Legislative Assembly that it has nothing to do with the Resolution adopted by Legislative Council on passing of Resolution seeking declaration of holiday on September 23 on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday while party legislator from Nagrota Devender Singh Rana stood by his words.
As Independent MLA from Langate Engineer Rashid created ruckus in the Assembly during Question Hour seeking reply from both National Conference as well as BJP, NC leader and former Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone told the House that views expressed by Devender Singh Rana were his personal and NC has nothing to do with the Resolution.
“The views expressed by Rana might be his “personal stand” but the party didn’t support that,” Lone said.
Rashid targeted the BJP asking whether they stand were holiday on July 13 as ‘Martyrs Day’ or September 23 as Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday. The BJP MLAs, however, shouted down Rashid.
Rana later told the Excelsior that his statement reflected the sentiments of Jammu region and he stand by that.
Later talking to reporters, Rashid said the NC is playing differently to appease the people in Kashmir and Jammu.
“There is a possibility of the next Government being that of BJP and NC,” Rashid said.
In another incident, Independent MLA Pawan Gupta tore the answer given by the Government in connection with the questions regarding health services and threw it in the Well of the House before staging a walkout.
He alleged the Government gave “unsatisfactory” reply to his questions on allocations with reason of “discrimination” in revenue and budgets with regard to medical education institutes in Udhampur.
