JAMMU Sept 15: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today lambasted Bharatiya Janata Party for its despicable role in dividing society on communal lines with an avowed objective of buttressing its political fortunes.
Addressing a workers meeting at Upper Jandyal in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, held to welcome new entrants in the party this afternoon, the Provincial President said that the fascist parties like BJP have absolutely no role in a State like Jammu and Kashmir that stands for co-existence and harmony between various segments of society.
Mr Rana referred to the recent unfortunate and deplorable disturbances in Kishtwar and said how BJP hobnobbed with People’s Democratic Party to further aggravate the situation with a view to put the state on boil for furthering their hidden and nefarious agenda. The bonhomie between the two is not new; it dates back to the existence of PDP, an extension of BJP in Kashmir, he said and recalled their dirty role in 2008 Amarnath land row agitation and secret understanding during elections to Legislative Council. “They did not succeed only because the people gave a stiff resistance and foiled their machinations with full might”, he added.
The Provincial President, however, cautioned people against evil designs of PDP & BJP who are chips of the same block,  saying they will leave no stone unturned to disturb the situation, especially in the wake of elections to Parliament and State Assembly next year. He urged them to foil all their designs by maintaining unity and tranquility for which Jammu and Kashmir is known. He also referred to the emergence of known communal forces in the political landscape of the country and said this is not good omen for peace and tranquility. He exuded confidence that the people will meet this challenge with fortitude, which they have shown during most testing times in the past.
Referring to the initiatives taken for steering the State to progress and development, Mr Rana said that the performance of Omar Abdullah led Government is self explanatory and visible in good measure. This effort will be taken to logical conclusion with the support and cooperation of the people, he said.
Mr Rana sought decisive mandate for National Conference in the ensuing elections and said a strong Government is key to solving the problems of people and satiating their socio-economic and political aspirations. He said sound foundations have already been laid in this regard and there is need to take forward this mission with full vigour.
Mr Rana said that nobody can stall the march of National Conference towards massive victory. “We have been a premier political force of the State and will continue to be so for all times to come”, he said adding that the able  leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has enabled the party to lay indelible mark in the hearts and minds of the people.
Those present on the occasion included former Minister Babu Ram Paul, Vice President NC Rattan Lal Gupta, former legislator Th Kashmira Singh, Ch Ashrad, Ch Rehmat Ali, Ch Rahim Dad, Ch Wali Dad, Balwan Singh, Sukha, Sarpanch Ravinder Singh Peter, Sarpanch Ch Anwar, Sarpanch Ch Mumtaz, Sain Khan, Rohit Bali, Surinder Singh Jamwal, K D Singh, Sham Lal, Subash Sharma, Krishan Gopal, Drub Singh, Abdul Aziz and others.
