KATRA, Aug 8: While announcing the launching of the innovative Raksha Bandhan Insurance campaign which seeks to connect the forthcoming festival with the Modi Government’s recently introduced Social Security Insurance Schemes, Union Minister of State in PMO  with Independent Charge for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER),  Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the Raksha Bandhan Insurance campaign will reinforce woman empowerment  in a big way, not only financially but also psychologically by giving her a sense of social and mental security.
While addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) “Prashikshan Karyashala” (workshop) which was attended among others by the party’s National general secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and senior leaders,  Dr Jitendra Singh said the objective of this country-wide campaign is to ensure that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, each sister who ties a Rakhi on the wrist of her brother is gifted with an Insurance scheme for herself and her family.
He said during the last 14 months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a series of pro-poor schemes and has been taking a personal interest in the welfare of weaker sections of the society. Just as “Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana” is a landmark in the history of independent India with a unique offer of opening bank accounts with zero balance so that every citizen of this country may feel proud to possess a bank account and an ATM card even if he does not have any money to deposit, similarly “Raksha Bandhan” related campaign is aimed at taking the benefit of new pension schemes like “Atal Pension Yojana” to each and every woman of this country.
Elaborating on the campaign, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the organization has taken upon itself the commitment to register life/accident insurance for at least 11,000 women-folk in each Assembly constituency of the country. It should not be difficult considering the fact that under the recently launched “Atal Pension Yojana”, an amount of mere Rs.12/- is sufficient to get this insurance, he explained. For those who avail of this scheme before the Raksha Bandhan, the Government and the organisation will be providing facilities and holding camps to carry out the process with minimum formality and without much documentation, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh further advised that while on the one hand, each one of us should take the pledge that we would gift an Insurance policy whenever a sister ties a Rakhi on our wrist, at the same time we can also spare some amount from our resources to ensure mass Insurance in large groups of women considering that sparing Rs.12/- for Insurance of a single person is not a big amount. Such a historic initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not only a tribute to the women of this country, but also a commitment to the sanctity of the forthcoming festival of “Raksha Bandhan”, he added.
Addressing the workshop, national general secretary (organization) Ram Lal stressed on discipline among Party cadres which has been a hall mark for BJP. He said the Partymen who are being imparted training in the two day training programme will in turn hold training programmes for the Party activists and educate them about the organizational set-up of BJP and its working. He said the 150 Partymen will be imparted training in this two day programme and they in turn will educate other Partymen at district, Mandal and booth level.
The two day programme is being attended by BJP ministers, office bearers and senior Party leaders including Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, State president of the Party and MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma former president and MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, former president and MLA Ashok Khajuria and general secretary (org) Ashok Koul.
