Rajput Sabha asks Govt to declare Sept 23 as gazetted holiday

JAMMU, Dec 25: Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha, J&K, has reiterated its demand for declaring 23rd of September, date of birth of Late Maharaja Hari Singh, as gazetted holiday in the State.
The demand was highlighted in working committee meeting of the Sabha, held here today under the chairmanship of Kr Naryan Singh, president of the Sabha. Almost all the working committee members, hailing from Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri. Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda districts, attended the meeting.
The core issue of the meeting was declaration of 23rd of September each year (the date of birth anniversary of Late Maharaja Hari Singh) as gazetted holiday.
All the working committee members in the meeting expressed their shock over the attitude of the State Government by not declaring the 23rd of September as gazetted holiday despite assurances given by the elected representatives of all the political parties, present in the Rajput Virat Ekta Samelan at MA Stadium Jammu. The working committee members vehemently stressed that they should press the State Government to concede their long pending demand immediately.
Kr Naryan Singh apprised all the working committee members about the steps initiated by the Sabha in submitted the copies of memorandum of demands to all those representatives of political parties who were present in the Samelan to lake up the issue of declaring 23rd of September as gazetted holiday with the State Government immediately. He appealed the State Government to concede this genuine demand immediately rather than testing the patience of the Rajput community any more. “We are still optimistic that State Government would definitely consider our demand,” he added.
Prominent among those, who spoke on the occasion, included Capt Inder Singh, Capt Arjun Singh, K S Jasrotia, Master Jagdish Singh, Capt Kulbir Singh, Capt Balwan Singh, P S Bhardwaj and others.
