He said when the people were busy in preparations for celebration of the festival, the Invaders pounced on the innocent people in the town.
To save their honour and dignity many women committed suicides, he said. It was the courage displayed by the Hindu population of Rajouri and the arrival of Indian Army which saved the district and its people.

Many lost their all belongings, their near and dears and children became orphans. The women folk was the most affected lot. The young women were abducted and raped whereas many other jumped into the wells or consumed poison to save their honour and dignity. The people still feel the pain and agony of this barbarism, he added.

He also said that the people must be cautious of the elements who are trying to divide the society on communal lines in connivance with the anti-India elements.
