Rajnath Singh urges students to make India a world leader

KANPUR (UP), Sep 11: Youngsters should understand India and its significance, and play an important role in making the country a world leader, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said Tuesday.
Singh was addressing the 33rd convocation of Chatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj (CSJM) University here.
“Even though learning is a life-long process, only a teacher can teach us. Teaching means moral values. The students must wish for a wonderful career and package, but this should not be your life’s aim,” he said.
While citing the example of the pilot flying the plane involved in the World Trade Centre attack, Singh said even though he had education, he took people’s lives.
Referring to al-Qaida and an IT firm, he said, “In both the places, educated and dedicated youngsters work, but the difference is of ethical values. Due to lack of ethics, youth associated with al-Qaida have turned destructive.”
Stating that the country is emerging as a strong economy, Singh said the strength of India is nationalism, cultural heritage and unity.
He distributed medals and degrees to the students.
While presiding over the convocation ceremony, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik said higher eduction in the state had come on track and was finally ready to run.
Naik also expressed his happiness over the fact that most of the medals and degrees were earned by female students, and said the real picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Educate the Daughters’” campaign could be seen there.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Dinesh Sharma spoke about setting up of a research portal.
“The state government has sanctioned Rs 921 crore for implementing the Seventh Pay Commission for the teachers,” Sharma added.
Governor Naik also hoisted a 166-feet high flag on the occasion. (PTI)
