Sharda FM organizes cultural event

JAMMU, Dec 20: Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai today called for revival of radio listening as it acts as a catalyst for preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
He was addressing audience here at a cultural programme organized by Radio Shardha, 90.4 FM an outfit of Pir Panchal a socio cultural organisation.
Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta, Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini, Ex MLC Vijay Bakaya, Session Judge (Retd) B L Saraf, president Pir Panchal and Director Radio Sharda 90.4 FM Ramesh Hangloo were also present on the occasion.
Describing Radio as a potential and effective medium of information and communication, Ganai said in today’s globalized and blended world, Radio helps people across the world to communicate regardless of boundaries and geographic limitations.
He urged the Kashmiri community, especially youth to continue to uphold the Kashmiri ethos the way they have been doing till this time.
Earlier, the Advisor alongwith other dignitaries gave away awards to the persons who were and are associated with Radio Shardha.
Ramesh Hangloo presented a welcome address.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu also spoke on the occasion and demanded opening of Sharda Temple in POK for pilgrimage. He complimented Pir Panchal for contributing in social activities and promoting language and culture.
A detailed paper about Radio Sharda and its activities was read by B L Saraf (Retd) Sessions Judge. Awards were given to the people who remained with Radio Shardha from its inception. Specially created awards were given to ladies who helped in promoting scientific programmes among women. Awards were given to Dr K L Choudhary , J K Raina, Avtar Jotshi, Dr Jyoti Hak, Dr K K Pandita and Posthumously to J L Saroore. Annual awards were given to Manoj Jad, Wahid Jeelani, Rajesh Khar, Surender Manhas, Sunil Wali, Manju Raina, Shazia Bashir, Bharti Zaroo, Behari Kak, Kailash Mehra Sadhu, J K Koul Bezan, Shanti Lal Sidh, Asha Zaroo, P K Raina, Sunil Chaku, Radio Sharda Special Awards were given to Vijay Bakaya, former Chief Secretary and MLC Neelam Razdan Wali, Suman Bhat, Pritiba Sophori, Vibhore Anand, Rohit Kachroo, Mukesh Kumar Thaploo, DST Special awards were given to Dr Nirojni Bhat, Opender Ambardar, Sarita Raina, Sujata Phalwan, Veena Kumari Hangloo, Sandesha Koul, Kiran Hangloo, Rajni Bhat, Meenakshi Wali, Manju Raina, Suman Bhat, Shoki Lidhu, Usha Pandita, Hancy Dhar, Anita Bhat, Roopalee Koul, Priya Raina, Rakesh Dass, Ramesh Koul, Ajay Munshi, Special awards to Kusum Tikoo, Kamal Ganjoo, Rohit Bhat, Jeetender Jotshi, Mahraj Krishan Jotshi (Captain),Vinay Pandita and Rahul Pandita. Programme was compared by Kusum Tikoo.
