JAMMU, Feb 23: Zorawar Hockey Club, Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club Poonch and BSF Jammu defeated their rivals convincingly as the quarterfinals position has been cleared in the ongoing 4th Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by SPDC Trust, Guru Nanak Nagar, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
Now, in the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow, J&K Police will take on Zorawar Hockey Club at 11 am, BSF Jammu will meet Punjabi University Patiala at 12:30 pm, SGPC Amritsar will face MBS Simbal Camp at 2 pm and Banda Singh Hockey Club Poonch will lock horns with Gurdaspur Hockey Club at 3:30 pm.
Earlier, in the first match, Zorawar Club defeated Power House Poonch by a solitary goal (1-0).
SP Singh, Manger KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium was the chief guest on the occasion.
In the second match, BSF Jammu blanked Hiranagar Hockey Club by three goals to nil (3-0), while in the third match, Banda Singh Bhadur Hockey Club defeated Peaks XI by three goals to one (3-1).
Raj Singh of Italy was the chief guest on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Iqbal Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Manjeet Singh, Senapati, Mukesh Kumar and Satvir Singh, Tournament Director.
Prominent among others present on the occasion Rajinder Singh Raja, GS Bakshi, Indpal Singh Munna, Harvinder Singh, PP Singh, Janak Singh, Harbans Singh Chib, Gurcharanjeet Singh, Jaswant Singh and MS Reen.
