Purmandal wins Inter-Zonal U-14 Cricket Tournament

SAMBA, May 4: Defeating Vijaypur zone convincingly by 8 wickets in the summit clash, Purmandal zone lifted the title trophy of the ongoing Inter-Zonal Under-14 Boys Cricket Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of Subash Chander Bharadwaj , DYSSO Samba.
Man of the Tournament award was won by Prayas Sangotra of Purmandal Zone, while Amandeep of Purmandal Zone took the best of catch of the Tournament.
Earlier, Purmandal defeated Ghagwal byy 21 runs, Vijaypur Zone outpayed Ramgarh by 2 wickets and Purmandal trounced Vijaypur by 9 wickets.
The officials present on occasion were Anirudh Singh, Rekha Sambyal, Kulbir Singh,Mohinder Kumar, Dhanraj Singh Slathia, Zorawar Singh Sambyal, Chander Parkash, Naresh Khajuria and Bhopinder Singh.
Meanwhile, as part of Inter-School District Level Tournament of District Kathua, the Competitions of Basketball and Rugby for Under-17 and Under-14 boys and girls were held at St St Xavier School, Hatli Morh and Sports Stadium Hiranagar respectively. The Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar.
At Sports Stadium Hiranagar, Govt HSS Budhi won the final match of Rugby Under-17 boys by defeating Govt HSS Hiranagar by (2-1), while St Xavier School defeated SAI International School Hiranagar in Under-17 Basketball boys final.
The matches were officiated by Sanjay Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Kewal Krishan, Sanjeev Singh and Punjab Singh, while ZPEO Sukesh Kumar, Sanjeev Sunny, Rajeev Mehta, Joginder Khajuria, Dewan Dub, Ashok Mangotra and Mohan Lal were present on the occasion.
District Level Inter School Competitions in the disciplines of Basketball and Handball Girls Under-14 & U-17 got underway at M.A stadium and Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar Jammu.
In all, 200 girls drawn from various private/govt. institutions of district Jammu are taking part in the competitions. The competitions are being organized by under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal Jt. Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma DYSSO Jammu.
Earlier, in boys basketball competitions, MHAC Nagbani beat JP World School by 4 points (29-25). Abhinav and Amandeep remained the main scorers for MHAC Nagbani and JP World with 17 and 9 points each.
In U-14 girls Basketball, KC Public School beat G.D. Goenka by 2-0 baskets, Carmel Convent defeated APS Kalu Chak by 6-0 baskets, APS Sunjwan trounced Heritage School by 5-2 baskets and SOS trounced APS Miran Sahib by 4-0 baskets
Meanwhile in U-17 girls Basketball, APS Nagrota blanked SOS by 4-0 baskets, Carmel Convent beat APS Kalu Chak by 4 baskets (9-5) and KC International beat St. Peter BC Road by 12 baskets (14-2)
In U-14 Girls Handbal, St. Peter Karan bagh defeated Springdales by 3-0, BSF Paloura got walkover against Presentation Convent, while in final match, BSF Paloura beat St. Peter HSS Karan Bagh by 2-0
In U-17 Girls Handball, BSF Paloura won the match by 7-5 from rainbow HS Rampur, St Peter’s HSS B.C. Road Jammu beat BSF Paloura by 12-2, Heritage HSS got walkover against Presentation Convent, while in the final match, St Peter’s HSS B. C. Road won the match by 5-2 from Heritage HSS Sainik Colony. The main corer was Kashish baru she secured 4 goals and 1 goal scored by Arzoo Anand.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Sharma, Sanjay Jamwal, Mokshi Bali, Gourav Sharma, Vishal Bharti, Vaneet Pangotra, Rajesh Bandral, Satika Sharma,Mousami Verma and Amit Kalsi.
