JAMMU, Jan 19: IGP Vigilance Organisation Alok Puri today refuted “baseless and groundless allegations” leveled against him by a local newspaper and threatened the paper and others associated with the story including a lady police official of legal action.
Puri said a local newspaper has continuously been indulging in “baseless, scandalous and defamatory” news item on January 3, which he described as “highly motivated” and a “pressure tactic” to seek illegal exercise of powers for lodging First Information Report (FIR) against the Government officials.
“Now again the vilification campaign has started against me by continuous publication of `baseless and unsubstantiated story’ for alleged favour from some lady police officer. I am in the process for initiation of legal action against newspaper and others associated with the publication of baseless story,” Puri said.
