Purav Sainik Parishad holds convention

JAMMU, Oct 2: A one-day convention of ex-servicemen was organised by Purav Sainik Parishad led by Brig (retd) Surjit Singh Saini here today.
A large number of ex-servicemen and senior ex-officers were present in the convention.
In his address Brig (retd) Surjit Singh a senior leader of the Purav Sainik Parishad highlighted latest developments and issues discussed at higher level about the welfare of ex-servicemen.
The convention, while highlighting the demands alleged that main facilities are not available at ECHS.
It demanded VAT on CSD goods be remitted as is case in other States, children of ex-servicemen be provided  transport facilities and the widows of ex -servicemen be given full pension as the families can’t make their both ends meet on the meager pension sanctioned for them.
It also demanded gun licenses be given to ex-servicemen and alleged that fresh applicants applying for gun licenses are facing humiliation as the same is not given to them easily and they have to undergo many formalities while the case is altogether different in Kashmir where the licenses are given without any delay.
Opposing the demand regarding revocation of AFSPA the ex-servicemen said it will prove disastrous for the State as situation in the trouble-torn State is under control because of the AFSPA. It further demanded one rank one pension be implemented and the members resolved to put this demand forcefully before the Government.
Among others who addressed the rally included Maj Gen (retd) S K Sharma, Maj Gen (retd) Shamsher Singh, Brig (retd) R S Jamwal, Sub Maj (retd) B S Jamwal, Sub Maj (retd) T N Raina and Hav (retd) Som Singh.
