JAMMU, Feb 13: J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (PSS), Jammu today conducted a literary- cum- cultural event at K L Saigal Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu.
Two Punjabi books titled ‘Mera London Da Safarnaama’, written by Prof Hardev Singh and ‘Tangli Tangey Lok’, written by Rajpaul Singh Mastana, were released during the function. Sangam also honoured four contributors in the disciplines of Literature, Art, Music and Theatre during this event.
S  Rangeel Singh, former MLC, was the chief guest and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn Additional Secretary, JKAACL presided over the programme. S  Hardial Singh Rehbar was the guest of honour. A large number of writers, artists, musicians and other intellectuals attended this programme.
Papers on the books released were read out by well known Punjabi writers Kanwal Kashmiri and Dr Vinod Nirmal highlighting the content of the books and the literary aspects of the writings included in these books.
Late Samer Singh, a noted poet from Kashmir, Madan Rangeela, Actor, Anil Kharappa, Singer and Amrit Kaur, visual artist were honoured.
In his presidential address, S Rangeel Singh said that all the organizations working in this direction should join hands to work for it. He also said that mothers can play a vital role in promoting the mother tongue in a family.
A musical programme was also conducted during the second session wherein Anil Karappa, Chanchal Dogram Mohan Singh Niralam Sanjay Mehra and Rajpaul Sing Mastana presented songs in varios musical compositions.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Baljeet Singh Raina.  Ratan Suraj presented vote f thanks.
