JAMMU, Sept 11: J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam here today conducted a literary cum cultural programme at Digiana Ashram.
Dr. Baljeet Raina, a well known literary personality presided over the function whereas Bhupinder Singh Bhargava and S.S Oberai were the guest of honour and special guest respectively.
S. Rajpaul Singh Mastana, President, J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam also shared the dais.
Welcoming the guests, Mastana said that the Sangam is contributing in the promotion of Punjabi literature and culture through various activities like Mushiaras, literary programmes, publication and release of Punjabi books and cultural programmes.
Three Punjabi short stories by Dr. Baljeet Raina, Jang, S. Verman and Hardeep Singh Deep were read out.
In the session of Kavita Paath, Sesham Kaur Resham, Balvinder Singh, Piara Singh Dhanjal and other Punjabi poets recited their poems, Ghazals and lyrics.
A short musical programme was also presented on this occasion.
S.S Oberai, a Vyang Lekhak from Faridabad presented an interesting Vyang article with the theme of problems of beggars.
In his presidential address Dr. Baljeet Raina appreciated the efforts of J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam for organizing such programmes.
The programme ended with the observance of two minutes of silence as a mark of respect and tribute to Prof. Rita Jitendra. Her contribution in various disciplines of art & culture were remembered on this occasion.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Suraj Singh Ratan.
