JAMMU, Mar 11: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Regd.), Jammu in collaboration with Punjabi Adbi Sangat, Jammu organized one day Seminar “Jammu Kashmir De Punjabi Sahit Da Vishleshan: Series- 1” at K L Saigal Hall, Jammu today.
Kanwal Kashmiri, a renowned Punjabi writer from Kashmir was the chief guest. Dr Jagbir Singh, former Dean and Head of Punjabi Department, Delhi University presided over the programme. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was also present on the dais. Dr Darya from Punjabi Department of Punjabi, GNU, Amritsar, presented the key note address.
In his welcome address Dr Susheel Sharma, president, Punjabi Adbi Sangat said that many factors are responsible for spreading the local languages. He added that only people cannot take the movements ahead but multipurpose strategy is needed to handle it. He also pointed towards the need of mobilizing resources and means to run an organization and publication of literary magazines.
A Punjabi poetry collection titled ‘Kavita Mere Jehi’ by Dr Monojit and edition of Punjabi magazine ‘Lok Vani’ were released during the inaugural session.
Dr  Arvinder Singh Amn, Kanwal Kashmiri and Dr Jagbir Singh expressed their views. Dr Amn said that the folk element in Punjabi literature of Jammu & Kashmir state. Dr Jagbir Singh emphasized that the roots of Punjabi language are deeply rooted from the time immemorial.
Four sessions were conducted during the seminar. Kanwal Kashmiri, Pritpal Singh Betab, Dr Raj Kumar, Dr Monojit, Devinder Singh Vishavnath and Amar Singh Kuka were present in the presidium during the sessions.
The emphasis of the seminar was on eight senior Punjabi writers of Jammu & Kashmir state in the first of its series. A total of forty Punjabi writers have been selected to be included in the series of such seminars.
Dr Praveen Kumar, Dr Sahib Singh, Dr Manjinder Singh,  Ashok Bhagat, Satinderjeet Singh, Gurmail Singh, Dr G S Sandhu and Dr Gurpreet Singh presented their research papers on the literary works of Dr Monojit, Dr Sushil Sharma, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, Amar Singh Kuka, Didar Singh, Surinder Neer and Ujjagar Singh Mehak.
Various issues related to contemporary scenario in Punjabi literary world of Jammu  and  Kashmir were discussed during the seminar.
